Although you may begin entering your committee’s transactions immediately
after you install the IDIS software, you will not be able to electronically
file your reports until you have obtained a Filer Identification Number and
Password from the State Board of Elections.
NOTE: The Filer Identification Number
(FID number) is not the same as the ‘State’ or ‘Local’ number assigned by the
Board.
The FID number may be obtained by calling or
e-mailing the Springfield office after
the political committee has filed a Statement of Organization.

In order to be issued an FID number, a committee must choose a password. The password must be
at least 5 characters long, no more than 32, and is case-sensitive.
The name of at least one contact person, a day-time phone number, and a 9-digit identification
number unique to that person are required for
security purposes. An e-mail address and a second contact person may also be designated.
Password and contact person information may be changed if necessary by contacting the
Board. This information can be changed only if a current contact person contacts the
Board and provides his 9-digit personal identification number.
